Who reads it
Inside the Ropes goes to amateur golfers across New Mexico and West Texas who belong to SCAGA. Most of them open it on a phone.
2026 is the association’s 50th year. So every issue opens with a story from the archives before it gets to the month’s business.
How the issue is ordered
It starts with a story. September led with two pieces from the archives. One is “Four Strokes at Rio Rancho,” on the 1988 Senior Amateur, with the original Albuquerque Journal clipping. The other is “The Most Valuable Practice Round in Golf,” from 1986.
Next comes something useful: Episode 3 of Amateur Edge, where Eli Eilers, PGA, talks about handling pressure. A community story on the Birdie Bash raising $32,847 follows it.
Then it tells members what to do next. Each upcoming championship gets its date, fee, entry deadline and one button.

I edited the issue, wrote the original pieces and built it in Mailchimp. The archive clippings come from the Albuquerque Journal.
